In order to trade in financial markets such as Forex, traders need a professional trading platform. As we mentioned in the previous post, MetaTrader 4 is a popular and widely used platform among Forex traders. Traders use MT4 to analyse real-time currency prices, open or close orders, use indicators and more.
In the MetaTrader 4 Bootcamp series blog posts, we’ll help you to go from zero to hero of MetaTrader 4 trading platform. It’s highly recommended to enroll in our well-structured training courses such as Forex Essentials Course or Forex Premium Course and obtain all fundamental and required skills to start professional trading in FX market.
Installation of MT4
You can download the MetaTrader 4 from the official websites of MetaQuotes or MetaTrader 4 based on your device that you are using but we suggest to use this software on a pc or laptop (large screen devices).
When the installation finished, you will see a screen that the live prices are blinking (if you open it in active market hours).
For the new traders, this screen is bit little strange but if you could obtain analysis skills, it will be familiar to you as a Forex professional trader.
If you have a real account, you can connect it to your trading account. Almost all brokers provide an updated specific edition of MetaTrader that utilizes broker server addresses and broker logo at default and it seems to be a different MetaTrader software but it’s same as origin.
All majority of Forex brokers have an option as ‘Demo Account’. With a demo account you could trade, test strategies, analyse the market prices, place the orders and everything like as a real account without losing real money.
This action leads to login to your account:
- (At the top and menu bar click on) File > Login to trade Account
Also you could find your broker and see available options such as creating demo account (if available) and login by performing this action:
- (At the top and menu bar click on) File > Open an Account…
Most of the brokers don’t provide to open real account from inside the MetaTrader software and this needs a registration from the broker website.
In the next post, we will have a deep look on MT4 general windows tools and facilities and we’ll learn how to use them like a pro Forex trader in the future.
